Gianluca Sottile
Postdoc in Statistics at UNIPA

I am a postdoctoral researcher in statistics at the Departments of Economics, Business and Statistics and of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Sciences of the University of Palermo.
I received a PhD in Statistics from the University of Palermo in 2018. I wrote my PhD dissertation, entitled "Penalized regression and clustering in high-dimensional data", under the supervision of Professor Marcello Chiodi.
My research is focused on the development of statistical models for the analysis of data, focusing in particular on penalized statistical modeling of omic data, quantile regression, cluster analysis and functional analysis. I also collaborate with a team of biologists with experience in livestock and omics, doctors and neurologists.
More broadly, I am interested in:
-
statistical modeling;
-
variable selection, penalized and high-dimensional inference;
-
generalized, linear, and mixed models;
-
clustering of functional data;
-
quantile regression and smoothing;
-
biostatistics, statistical genetics and bioinformatics;
-
applications of statistics in life and social sciences.
